A Rant About Alexa: Why Google Home is Better than Amazon Alexa

Warning: This post is not a technical overview of the fact-based differences between the Google Home and the Amazon Alexa. This is, however, a biased rant from someone who needs to get out more.

Answer to the question in the title: Because it runs Google.

Once upon a time I was a Windows Phone user. A part of the Windows Phone ecosystem is the presence of Bing everywhere. Now, when you use Bing in front of people, it becomes a joke. It's like owning a Zune, which was hated for no other reason besides Apple's amazing marketing, and the iSheep contaminating a fantastic MP3 player. Here's a hint for everyone who mocked the Zune for being an iPod clone: Apple didn't invent the MP3 player; they just made it shiny, and produced great commercials about it. Bing gets the same ridicule from people who have never used it claiming it sucks. Now admittedly, the primary reason I used Bing was because they have a rewards program where you can win free gift cards, but it&#…

Why I Love Radio Over Spotify

I love Spotify. I've used other music streaming services like Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Groove Music when that was still a thing, but Spotify just works well for me. It's clean, and easy to find all kinds of music. What it doesn't offer, however, that Apple Music and iHeart Radio do offer is an actual live radio station selection. There's something about turning on a radio and having music just play. The same goes for television, there's a playlist someone else created for me to consume. It gives a sense of being connected with the world that you simply don't get with a personal library of music. You just feel less lonely, especially driving in the car…

Many Reasons Billy Joel's SiriusXM Channel Needs To Be Permanent

In no particular order:Billy Joel's library spans three decades, so there's plenty of materialEven if there wasn't plenty of material to work with, Margaritaville and Garth Brook's channel regularly play other artist's musicHe doesn't take any shit from anybodyInitially I thought maybe it would've been too expensive to have a whole channel for him, but if SiriusXM can afford The Beatles to have their own channel, then by golly, Billy Joel should be fineIt would make me happyHeck, even if they combined it with Elton John, I'd be happy, maybe happier So, SiriusXM, I've given many good reasons for Billy Joel to get his channel put back permanently. Your move!
